Tour Overview

  1. Depart Inverness (08:00) – Head south through the Drumochter Pass, once notorious for highwaymen. Keep your eyes open for red deer on the slopes.
  2. Cairngorms National Park Drive – Your guide highlights peaks like Sgòr Gaoith and ancient Caledonian pine forests. Hear about local wildlife and the importance of the park for conservation.
  3. Pitlochry – Stop for coffee and a stroll along the River Tummel. See the suspension bridge, watch salmon leap at the fish ladder during spawning season, and browse shops selling tweed and whisky.
  4. Stirling Castle or Wallace Monument – Choose your preferred historic site. Stirling Castle was once a residence of the Stewart kings and offers spectacular views over the River Forth. The Wallace Monument commemorates William Wallace, the 13th‑century freedom fighter depicted in Braveheart. A steep woodland path leads to the monument’s crown, where four levels of exhibitions detail Wallace’s life and the Wars of Independence.
  5. Forth Bridges Viewpoint – Just before reaching the Central Belt, stop for a photo of the Forth Rail Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site completed in 1890 and considered a masterpiece of Victorian engineering. Modern road bridges sit alongside it, symbolising Scotland’s engineering heritage.rabbies.com
  6. Arrival in Glasgow/Edinburgh (late afternoon) – Conclude your tour with a drop‑off at your hotel, airport or train station in the city of your choice. Your guide can suggest dining options or attractions to explore during your stay.
