Route & Local GEO Details

Edinburgh sits on the east coast and is connected to the Highlands by several major roads. When driving north, our chauffeurs typically use the M90 and A9, passing towns such as Perth and Pitlochry. This route leads to the Cairngorms National Park and the city of Inverness, with the drive from Edinburgh to Inverness taking around 3½ hours. From Inverness, the A82 continues along Loch Ness, through Glen Coe and towards Fort William.

For journeys toward the east coast, the A90 connects Edinburgh to St Andrews, Dundee and Aberdeen. The A90 begins in Edinburgh and, via the Queensferry Crossing, merges with the M90 towards Perth before continuing north to Dundee and Aberdeen. Heading west, our drivers use the M8 toward Glasgow, then join the A82 to reach Loch Lomond and the Highlands. To reach the Isle of Skye, we take the A87, which runs from Invergarry (on the A82) through Glen Shiel, past Loch Duich and over the Skye Bridge to Portree. This drive typically takes 5–6½ hours from Edinburgh, so many guests book a multi‑day tour.

For local explorations around Edinburgh, the A68 and A7 provide access to the Scottish Borders, while the A1 follows the coast to North Berwick and the southern coast. With multiple routes available, our chauffeurs plan the best itinerary for weather and traffic conditions.

Seasonal & Travel Advice

Edinburgh has an oceanic climate, with cool summers and cold, often windy winters. Winter (December–February) brings frequent rain, occasional snow and short days – the sun can set as early as 3.40 pm in December. Roads remain open but conditions can be wet and blustery; pack warm layers and waterproofs. Spring (March–May) sees temperatures slowly rise and flowers bloom; rainfall decreases. Summer (June–August) is generally cool with average highs around 19°C, but rainfall still occurs and winds can be strong. This is an excellent time for longer daylight hours (sunset after 10 pm in June), though we recommend bringing a jacket and umbrella. Autumn (September–November) is grey and rainy, with temperatures cooling and winds strengthening. Crisp, colourful foliage makes this a beautiful season for exploring castles and distilleries.

Regardless of the season, we advise dressing in layers, wearing comfortable footwear and bringing a camera or power bank. We monitor road conditions daily and will adapt routes when necessary, ensuring your comfort and safety.

Pricing & Booking Information

Starting from £45 (final quote depends on vehicle, route length, season, and schedule). Our pricing reflects the type of vehicle (saloon, MPV, prestige), the distance and duration of your itinerary, the season of travel and any special add‑ons such as whisky tastings, golf tee times or extended chauffeur waiting times. Hourly rates and day rates are available; the starting price above is a guideline.
To book, contact us with your preferred date, pick‑up location in Edinburgh, desired route and any special requests. We accept major credit/debit cards and bank transfers. For multi‑day itineraries we may request a small deposit. Our team will provide a bespoke quote and confirm availability.
