Tour Overview

  1. Depart Inverness (08:30) – Travel south along the Great Glen, passing Loch Ness before following the River Oich. Listen to tales of clan battles and geology along the Caledonian Canal.
  2. Spean Bridge Commando Memorial – Stop for photos and a moment of reflection. Your guide explains the monument’s history and points out the Nevis Range peaks.
  3. Ben Nevis Distillery – Join a guided tour through the mash house, still house and maturation warehouse. Enjoy a tasting session and browse the shop for limited releases or whisky chocolates.
  4. Nevis Range Gondola – Board the gondola for a 15‑minute ascent up Aonach Mòr. At the top, choose to walk to Sgurr Finnisg-aig viewpoint or relax at the Snowgoose Restaurant with a coffee and panoramic views. Keep an eye out for golden eagles soaring overhead.
  5. Fort William – Return to the town for free time. Suggestions include:
  • Walk to the parade ground overlooking Loch Linnhe.

  • Visit the West Highland Museum to see Jacobite artefacts and an exhibition on the building of the road to the Isles.

  • Try local dishes like Cullen skink (smoked haddock chowder) or venison steak.

Your guide times the stop to coincide with the Jacobite train’s arrival whenever possible (seasonal schedule May–October). Hear about the 1745 Jacobite Rising that started nearby.
